European Union has harmonised and standardized regulations on manufacturing and trade of goods. These regulations are above the national ones. A necessity to apply new rules for technical regulations has arouse.

These regulation, known as New Approach cover only these technical regulations which apply to health and safety of user and environment. When introducing a new product into the Polish market which after 01.05.2004 (the accession of Poland to EU) also became a part of European market a manufacturer is obligated to:

  • determine which directives of New Approach the  product is subject to
  • conduct tests validating conformity of the product with the directives in accordance with appropriate modules accepted in the directives
  • mark the product with CE sign

In Poland the office of goverment administration responsible for measures is Central Office of Measures. The most significant legal acts regulating the introduction of products into the trade and the use of measuring instruments are:
