Adjustment [different name: calibration] a set of activities due to which the indications of weighing instrument are corrected and referred to value of known standard mass. A weighing instrument can be equipped with automatic or semi-automatic adjusting device. This device should be installed inside the casing of the weighing instrument. Access to this device from outside the casing should be practically impossible. Automatic adjustment [different name: automatic calibration] a set of automatic activities (operator is not involved in this process) determining the relation between the value indicated on the weighing instrument and standard mass (calibration mass), which is the load on the weighing instrument and correction activities which occur when necessary. Automatic adjustment can be activated if temperature change occurs and/or time elapse.
